Annie Sloan Soft Wax is the perfect partner for Chalk Paint® decorative paint because they have been developed to work together. It can be used for protection and to give a beautiful mellow matte finish, or buffed to a lustrous sheen on painted furniture, cabinets , and walls. Our soft wax can be mixed with Chalk Paint® to make a colored wax - how amazing!
How to Use:
First apply Clear Wax with a wax brush over dry Chalk Paint®. The wax will deepen the color of the paint when applied, but on drying it won't be so apparent. For a distressed finish, rub gently with fine sand paper AFTER applying the Clear Wax while the wax is still "wet" (approx 30 min). Then immediatley apply the Dark Wax over the Clear Wax using a separate wax brush while the Clear Wax is still wet working it in to any textures. You can manipulate the Dark Wax over the wet Clear Wax to achieve your desired look. You may also make a glaze with the Dark Wax using 7 parts Dark Wax and 3 parts mineral spirits. Excess Dark Wax can be removed with a cloth or even erased with a little Clear Wax on a rag. Allow the wax to cure 24 hours and buff to a lustrous finish.
To maintain your furniture use a mild soap and water or dust with a soft cloth. Annie Sloan Soft Wax is water repellent so it can be used on kitchen cabinets and table tops. Apply two coats of wax, letting the coats dry in between, and buff to a high sheen. Soft Wax is not recommended for use in areas subject to a lot of water. Clean you waxing brushes after use per instructions supplied with the brushes.
